Hey guys so I know its been over 6 months since i last posted. And im really sorry about that. I got uninspired to write and was actually depressed for a while. Although i didnt stop reading stories. And a few days ago i stumbled upon marchbaby23 and got addicted. I owe it to her who inspired me to start writing again. This was just something quick inspired by the song hanging by a moment by lifehouse. I also have a new idea for a story that i'll post a preview of in the next day or so. Hope i havent lost all the readers i used to have!
"Josh? Josh? Are you ok?"
"Hmm? Oh yeah i'm fine." Dang. I could just get lost in those gorgeous green eyes of hers, which is exactly what just happened. I hope she didn't notice.
"I.....was just thinking about our upcoming show," I said hoping she wouldn't catch my lie.
Her eyes lit up as soon as i mentioned our show. "Ahh i know Josh! Aren't you so excited? I can't wait!" she gushed.
I couldn't help but laugh at her excitement. "I think 'excited' might be the wrong word Hayley. Maybe something more like 'scared shitless' would do."
"What? The big bad Josh Farro is scared?" hayley asked with a teasing smile.
"Maybe just a little bit. I mean it's our first show that's not at a church or in someones basement or backyard."
"Oh Josh you have nothing to worry about. Paramore is gonna be great!" she said with another flash of that gorgeous smile.
That smile of hers. Those eyes. Just everything about her. I had met Hayley 3 years ago when she moved to Franklin and came to our school. Ever since Zac introduced me to her I was in love with her. And falling even more in love with her everyday we spent together. Too bad she just considered me a friend.
"So how's Chad?" I asked her before I got too caught up with thinking about her again.
Her smile dimmed a bit when I brought him up. "Oh Chad....I broke up with him."
"I realized I didn't like him that much and felt bad for leading him on."
I didn't know what to say. It gave me hope that Hayley was single again, but I quickly reminded myself I was still hopeless. "I thought you liked him a lot though?" I questioned.
She just shrugged while looking back out at the city below us. "I did. I just don't anymore."
I would have just left it at that...but there was something about the note of how she said it that led me to believe there was something more. More specifically someone more.
Hesitantly I asked her. "Is there someone else?"
She looked back at me, right into my eyes, and held that look for a few seconds before turning back to the starry night. "Maybe."
I couldn't breathe. I leaned back more on the car we both sat on. We were up at the top of the ridge that looked out over Franklin, just looking at how the city shone in the night. It was a great view. It was just too bad I couldnt appreciate it enough with me almost hyperventilating.
....But there was something in that look. Something that seemed to say its you josh. I like you! Just as I started to regain my senses Hayley hopped off my car and brushed off her pants.
"I better get going. My mom will start worrying where I am. I'll see you later Josh." Hayley said with an almost nervousness to her voice. She started to walk down the path that led back into town. But there was no way I was letting her get away now. I'd been chasing after Hayley for years, and I was not backing out now. I needed to know the truth now.
"Wait Hayley!" I called after her. She turned around waiting for me to say something else. There was an awkward pause between us as I tried to think of how to word my feelings. I could see her growing impatient as she stared at the ground and kept moving her foot back and forth across the dirt.
"Hayley....I...I..I don't really know how to word this."
She looked up again with a curious glint in her eyes. "Just say it Josh."
"I need to know the truth Hayley." I finally said.
"I don't know what you're talking about Josh." But she did. She knew exactly what I was talking about. I could tell by the way she started to pull at her hair which she always did when she was nervous and lying.
I groaned as I turned away from her. After a few seconds I turned back to her "Hayley, I've been standing here for years waiting for you to make me move. I love you Hayley. I've always loved you. And now I finally have the guts to say it, but Hayley I need to know the truth on how you feel about me."
She had a suprised look on her face. "Josh...I...I..." she didnt know how to finish and a silence grew between us.
I couldn't take it anymore. "Please Hayley. I'm hanging by a moment here."
She looked right into my eyes in that moment. She might not be able to voice her feelings but her eyes told me everything I needed to know. I took her face in my hands and finally brought my lips to hers. After a second she started to kiss back, pulling me down closer to her. After a minute she pulled back ever so slightly with a small giggle.
"Josh, I didn't realize it before, but I love you too. I realized it when I was with Chad and saw my feelings for you was what i should've been feeling for Chad. I'm sorry i've kept you waiting."
I couldn't help the huge grin that spread across my face. "It's ok. I was just standing here waiting for you to make me move." I told her as i brought my lips back down to hers. I didn't know what we were diving into, but I knew it was going to be good.
I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you
I'm living for the only thing I know
I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into
Just hanging by a moment here with you
